I have had intentions on starting a blog for a long time...probably a couple of years. I have never taken the time but feel now just may be the time to do it. If nothing else I will be able to look back if ever needed.
Why now?
Last week I started something that has been pulling on my heart for a long time. I found a non-profit organization that does what I truly believe in and I joined them in their mission. I have heard of issues in other countries and I have heard people donating lots of money and the money just needs to continue pouring in. I never understood why the people willing to help didn't go in and teach the people in need of help how to make a life for themselves. I finally found this type of organization with Global Hope Network International (GHNI). I learned of this organization through a fellow blogger who went to Africa to see first hand who GHNI helps. She asked her followers if they would be interested in assisting GHNI with their work and the turnout was amazing! She was able to assist with 2 villages being adopted. I got in on the second one (the first one went to fast!). Then I was given the opportunity to Skype with Jennifer and the village of Garmaam.
After the Skype call the other readers that were involved with the Skype call wrote blog posts about their experience. I was the only one who didn't have a blog. Until now! I will share my story of the Skype call, how I feel about adopting Garmaam, and about the pulling I have felt on my heart another time. For now, I can say I have blogged!
Blessings,
Deb
